Wim Wenders, Bilder von der Oberfläche der Erde. München: Schirmer/Mosel, 2006. Paperback, 136 pp. 210x217 mm.

1st paperback edition.
¨Film maker, writer, and photographer Wim Wenders (1945) consistently carried an old panoramic camera when traveling over the world.
The images he made with it often depict landscapes that seem to extend infinitely, horizons dividing the world into water, earth, and air. The vastness of deserts and mountain ranges imparts a sense of silence, while street fronts in locations like Havana, Berlin, Houston, or Jerusalem invite viewers to explore the signs and surfaces of culture.
Additionally, the camera captures moments of destruction, exemplified in Wenders' Ground Zero photographs, taken shortly after 9/11, showing the earth's altered surface.
This is the 2006 paperback edition of the 2003 hardcover, meant to make the book- accessible in a  smaller size and at an affordable price.
