The Artikel 19 Verlag was founded to permit the publication of the German edition. After public burnings of the book in the UK and pogroms in India and Pakistion, the German translator withdrew from the assignment. Two other translators took over, remaining anonymous. In Italy, translator Ettore Capriolo was attacked by an islamic terrorist and in Japan, Hitoshi Igarashi, who was an associate professor of comparative Islamic culture at the University of Tsukuba, was assassinated.
This first German edition is a very good copy in a good dust jacket. Book block tight, straight and clear. Minor soiling on edge. DJ showing shelf wear (rubbing, scratches, spine slightly sunned).
