A very collectible Svanborg Thorisdottir, by Petter Hegre
Petter Hegre started photographing Svanborg Thorisdottir the day they first met, in 1996, when Svanborg was nineteen. Between that day and the making of the book, Hegre made about 6000 snapshots. Working as an assistant for Richard Avedon, he was used to large-format photography and never had done snapshots before. The book feels as liberation from formal photography as much as it is an ode to sexual liberty. 'This is not only valuable for us,' Hegre says. 'It is all about love, female liberty, sexual freedom, trust, intimacy, relationships, and what happens behind the scenes in real life.'
The Petter Hegre photographic style
My Wife is a great photographic crossover between the overexposed Juergen Teller style and Araki's snapshots of Yoko. A pledge for the snapshot, against the synthetic portrait. A great exercise in housewife porn by an established photographer.
