The settings are people's vacation homes and stretches of naturist beaches on France's Atlantic coast in Montalivet, and Northern California. The girl on the cover is Misty Dawn, one of the people Sturges has photographed throughout her lifetime, starting when she was four.
Often compared to the photographic work of Sally Mann, Sturges' photographic aesthetic is more traditionalist and idealist. No cracks in the mirror here. No little girls smoking cigarettes or having a swollen eye. No reminders of death and decay. Just
