Catalog of the fetish fashion collection sold by La Boutique Minuit in Galérie du Centre Brussels. There are three different versions of this 1998 catalog. This is the first edition with 'Boutique Minuit' displayed in one line on the front cover. The second printing of this edition has 'Boutique Minuit' spread over two lines on the cover. For the second edition, the catalog was renamed Femmes fatales.
The photographer
Born in 1959, Christophe Mourthé, started his photography career at the age of 19, focusing initially on theater and music hall productions. Influenced by notable figures such as Zeffirelli, Peter Stein, and Federico Fellini, whom he met and photographed during travels across Europe.
Mourthé established himself as photographer of the Palace generation, named after the Paris Montmartre nightclub / theatre. Recognizing the shifting societal trends of the early 1980s, he emerged as a pioneer of the 'fetishist' school, incorporating elements of erotic imagery into his work. His photography became emblematic of the era, capturing the essence of cultural transformation.
Expanding his portfolio, Mourthé was in high demand in the fashion industry. He worked with magazines such as Vogue, Playboy, and Lui, capturing the era's most prominent models with his surreal images. His talents extended into advertising, including notable collaborations with Mylène Farmer, who became his muse.
La génération Palace
In the 1970s and 80s, Le Palace rose to prominence as the epicenter of the nightlife scene, drawing prominent figures and artists from all spheres of society. Maruschka Detmers, Thierry Mugler, Gaultier, Chantal Thomass, Grace Jones, Nina Hagen, Blondie, Eva Ionesco, Pierre & Gilles, Djemila et Farida Khelfa, Christian Louboutin, Yves Saint Laurent,... were spotted and photographed in the 1980s, a mythologized decade that saw the glory of the Palace and wild parties. The club became an emblematic venue closely associated with pop music and the emergence of gay culture.
