Text: German.
Great book demonstrating the mastery, style and conceptual approach of early 1990s German photographers from the Düsseldorfer Photoschule initiated by the Bechers in the late 1970s.
"The label Becherklasse or Düsseldorfer Schule," Uta Grosenick and Thomas Seelig explain, "stands for an objectifying photographic point of view from a certain distance, also with regard to the following generation of class members, which clearly differs from the journalistic or more free visual language of the documentary practices of other German photographers. In the 1990s, the Düsseldorf School is regarded, in the continuity of New Objectivity (New Seeing), as a synonym for German photography per se".
